My Story
It so happened in early Y2K, that a young lady, barely 18, was attending an International Speakers Conclave. She was there with her brother, 3 years older. Both trying everything they could to make something of their life and desperately wanting to succeed. She had taken a loan to be there at the conclave. The girl was from a middle-class family and her options in life were limited. She wasn’t especially talented in academics and no one had any high hopes from her. Her future was uncertain and her heart was filled with fear and insecurities. But she was hungry for more, to show the world that she too was ‘Something’.
So here she was, at the conclave, a skinny, pimply-faced mediocre teenager with nothing but a heart full of faith in God and a mind full of impossible dreams. This is when the seed for greatness was first conceived…
Suddenly, as she was watching a female speaker give a powerful talk in front of thousands, a small voice popped up in her head…it said, ‘What if someday, somehow, I can become like this lady? What if someday I am the one up on that stage and I inspire and change the lives of millions?’
And that was the first time Seema Shenoy Manek dreamt of becoming a Motivational Speaker.
Seema Started working early, while in college. Doing odd jobs like distributing brochures on street sides and getting surveys filled in cafes, she worked hard to secure her future. She also tried her luck in Network marketing, and even though she was too young and naïve to succeed, she considers this failed business as one of the best things that happened to her. She also tried repeatedly and in vain to become an Air-hostess, failing in over 15 interviews across airlines. Though painful, these experiences made her more resilient. She learned very early, what very few teenagers get to learn, every failure makes you a smarter person. She also developed a belief, that if something did not work out, it was not meant to be!
During these years, she learned to prospect, handle rejection, convince others, and mainly, she learned the power of dreaming big! She also became a voracious reader, devouring thousands of books and attended innumerable training programs and seminars. By the time she graduated from college, she already had all the skills to make it big in her career. Barely 22, She realized to her delight, that from the shy introverted teenager, she had metamorphosized into a talented young lady with ‘the gift of the gab’ making her dream of becoming a motivational speaker a distant, but definite reality.
Since a young age, Seema was inspired by her mother who repeatedly told her ‘Never be dependent on anyone financially’ ‘Always stand on your own two feet’. With these values of self-reliance, immense hard work, an insatiable hunger for learning, and passion to make a difference, Seema’s professional growth was exponential and impressive. Her career started in a BPO, and soon enough she was recruited as a trainer at the young age of 24. She worked in the corporate sector for more than a decade, across 3 industries and professionally, there was no looking back!
However, as she likes to often quote the famous poet Nida Fazli, “kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta,” she too had to overcome many painful challenges in her personal life. Just married for 5 years, Seema found herself a single parent of a young child. She considers the 5 years of marriage and another 5 years struggling for divorce and guardianship of her son the most traumatic part of her life. Thankfully, through these difficult times, she continued to grow as a powerful trainer and coach.
Through personal failure, she evolved as a person, becoming more compassionate and grounded with a deep understanding of relationship dynamics and human behavior. She says that her profession, and especially the science of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), helped her not just to stay strong during difficult times but to powerfully breakthrough her past and build a new life for herself and her son.
“I know what it takes to powerfully grow professionally as well as personally because I’ve done it myself,” she says with conviction. “When I work with people, my whole intent is to make them rise and find their true authentic self. Seema and Vimal Manek met through a common friend, and they knew very soon that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. “Become the kind of person you want to be with, the right person will come along… In my case, the best person,” she says laughing.
“Vimal and I are very similar, and we also respect the few differences we have. Because of Vimal, we both were able to give up our high-flying corporate jobs and pursue our passion to transform people’s lives. We together founded the Indian School of Success, a Transformational Training and Life Coaching Organization. We have trained and touched the lives of over 20,000 people in the last 3 years. We conduct seminars and workshops for individuals and corporates, helping them achieve outstanding results and achieve peak performance in life and work. We use the brilliant transformative science of NLP and other blended methodologies and ensure a strong spiritual base to all the work we do.”
Over the last 19 years, Seema has trained thousands of individuals from various age groups and backgrounds to pursue their dreams towards an exceptional life. She has extensive experience in coaching and training managers and leaders across several sectors such as Telecom, BPO, Direct Selling, and ISPs on Powerful Life Skills and Peak Performance.
In her last corporate stint, she was heading the OD and Training department of 20+ trainers for an organization with a 6000+ employee base.
She has been conducting Train The Trainer and Coach Certification Workshops for over a decade now. Her personal style of facilitation is deep, powerful, and engaging. She believes that anyone can get exceptional results in their life by understanding and applying cutting-edge tools and strategies of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Emotional Intelligence, and the Law of Attraction.
